Portland, where people can only be happy

Portland est une ville qui semble avoir été construite pour que les gens s'y sentent bien et y soient heureux. On y croit, mais on se demande si c'est possible.

Portland is a city that seems to have been built in order to make people feel comfortable and for them to be happy. We believe in it, but we wonder if that really is possible.

Même l'immeuble Coca Cola est beau.

Mos Def devait jouer ce soir, mais ça a été reporté. Ce Disneyland culturel n'est donc pas parfait ! La population est plutôt hype et jeune, les gens sont gentils (dès qu'on s'est arrêté hésitant quant à notre chemin au coin d'une rue, un passant nous a proposé son aide et indiqué un coin sympa), les bars sont sympas, les restos aussi, les rues sont mignonnes et c'est une ville pleine de pistes cyclables ! En bref, c'est l'endroit parfait pour fonder une famille et être heureux comme dans Pleasantville. Un peu trop parfait, donc. On a envie d'aller voir si les gens sont vraiment de vraies personnes ou si c'est le Truman show qui me joue des tours.

Mos Def was supposed to play tonight but the date was modified. So, this cultural Disneyland is not perfect! The Portlanders are pretty hip and young, people are nice (as soon as we stopped wondering about our way, someone offered his help and recommended us a nice neighborhood), bars are cool, so are the restaurants, streets are cute and the city is bike-friendly! In other words, it's the perfect place to have a family, raise kids and be happy like in Pleasantville. A bit too perfect, then. I feel like going to check if people really are real people of if the Tuman show is just playing around with me.
